evening. i'm ann notarangelo. >>> tonight police identified a gunman they say tried to kill a san jose officer. meanwhile they're on the hunt for another suspect and asking for help. a $10,000 reward is now offered for his capture. cbs5 reporter don knapp shows us the series of crimes the gunman is wanted for including murder. >> reporter: police say the chase and arrest of this man ended in a friday crime spree that included four armed robberies, a homicide and attempted murder of two san jose police officers. 26-year-old jonathan wilbanks was captured after a shootout that wounded one officer and a high speed chase ending in a crash after which wilbanks fled on foot. it was says the sergeant an old- fashioned shootout. >> the officer was forced to duck down for cover. there were rounds in the officer's sheet, front windshield, side window -- seat, frond windshield, side window. now the car is contaminated with pepper spray. >> reporter: police say wilbanks and an accomplice hit a pizza parlor, jack in a box and a spa. wilbanks and another man at large shot and killed rory clarke pediford whi

dive to the south. san jose all in the low 80s jumping into the mid and high 80s into gilroy. east of the bay well inland 50 degrees in brentwood tracey oakly and discovery bay. 84 degrees in san ramon. low 80s coming from napa back in through sonoma then we jump into the high 80s. glen ellen as well. check out bodega bay. 78 stinson beach offshore flow resulting in 76 degrees but away from the ocean we'll see stagnant air quality a bit of a haze. you'll be able to see that tomorrow. anywhere from the north to the east into the santa clara valley. five-day forecast we're calling for a little bit of a cool down on tuesday possible record highs there as well. wednesday we do offer that transition day about 11 to 12 degrees cooler. we introduce the possibility of rain showers in the forecast on thursday actually all the way through saturday and notice most of us will be well into the 50s over that three day period jumping into the mid-60s by sunday. right now we are calling for clearer skies on veteran's day. veteran's day on monday. little bit more seasonal conditions. >> that is your p

interesting setup. let me show you hi-def doppler. look at san jose. if you are watching in san jose, rain, what rain? you have the santa cruz mountains just down to your south and west and that's putting up a wall in the atmosphere preventing that rain from making it to you. where we do not have that wall, which is the rest of the bay area, it is soggy and very soggy right now in portions of marin county. in a matter of just about two or three minutes, it will be raining a lot more intensely in san rafael and tiburon already seeing some of that heavier rainfall for mill valley. portions of san francisco and the peninsula south to daly city the bayview district getting heavy rainfall and farther north towards saint helenena, santa rosa, healdsburg, you're picking up steady rainfall, as well. i'm showing you these areas in the north because down towards san jose, hayward, union city, not much rain. it's raining on the bay bridge now with temperatures around 60. oakland at 60, san jose 63. santa rosa 55. here's the setup. that low pressure area that we have been watching for three or four st

off tonight. >> we begin with breaking news in san jose. kiet do is at a three alarm fire. we understand a firefighter has been injured. >> reporter: exactly. thisst a hot, wet, soggy mess, out here in the midtown section of san jose. this is near the corner of fruitdale avenue and lee avenue, where at 8:30 a fire broke out at the upper level of this apartment complex. someone was burning a fire in their fire place. it very quickly went to three alarms. the firefighters arrived, sprayed a lot of water on it. that's when they did an interior attack. one of the captains went inside and the roof partially collapsed on this captain, knocked him down. he suffered relatively minor to moderate injuries. they're not sure at this point. he went to the hospital. but six units were evacuated. six families had a very rough thanksgiving. we talked to one man. >> this is one heck of a thanksgiving for you, huh? >> yes, sir. but on the good side, my family is okay, and that's what i'm thankful for. it's a really bad feeling but we're okay, and that's the most important thing. >> reporter: fa

small memorial is there for the san jose rest denied 22- year-old rory park petty ford. police have one person this custody. here's his picture. 26-year-old jonathan wilbanks was arrested on friday night. he was caught after a series of robberies, a police chase, shooting and carjacking attempt that left a man dead. here's a map that shows the path of this violent crime spree. wilbanks's alleged acome police got away but together they committed four robberies on friday at a little caesar's pizza on story road, gas station on east capital, a jack- in-the-box on curtner avenue and the spa on bird avenue. around 9:00 the pair tried to carjack 22-year-old rory in the seven eleven parking lot and shot him dead. police then spotted the car on highway 101 near interstate 280 and chased it through town. the suspects got out and opened fire on the officers. about >> about 9:00 i heard gunshots. >> saw the victim up in the front and in shock after finding out his father -- that his son had been shot in front of seven learn. >> reporter: police returned fire and hit wilbanks. one officer was t

, nearly half a dozen broke in san jose and two in redwood city. one of the redwood city pipes flooded a couple of homes near brewster and warren overnight. three hours later another line burst near allerton and standish. no property damage there. but of the five pipes that burst around san jose, the biggest was a 12" pipe at story road and lyndale. about two dozen customers lost water service during the fix but there was no flood damage. >>> israel is intensifying its attacks on the gaza strip despite talk of a truce. right now gaza is seeing the biggest explosions since the fighting started last week. cbs reporter danielle nottingham with the latest developments. >>> reporter: a shaken woman walked away from her building outside tel aviv after hamas rocket attack. in southern israel, a rocket fired from gaza killed an 18- year-old soldier. it's the fourth death in israel and the first military casualty after nearly a week of violence. at least 130 people have been killed in gaza, half of them civilians. the international community is stepping up efforts to stop the fighting.

francisco. and 72 in san jose. this is about as good as it gets though this week. we have some rain on the horizon. we'll talk more about that in a moment. right now let's check the roads with elizabeth. >> we are going to enjoy this dry commute while we can. we are following a couple of problems though. we are seeing in the usual amount of delays right -- an unusual amount of delays right now on westbound 4 because of an accident not even blocking lanes. it's off to the shoulder approaching a street lone tree way but unfortunately it's causing heavy traffic right now through antioch. also reports of an accident westbound 580 approaching santa rita, tassajara. we can't see it but we are seeing bunching up but we have delays stop and go from the altamont pass to the dublin interchange. the nimitz 880 through oakland near the oakland coliseum, no problems. 16 minutes between 238 and the maze. and a quick note for the south bay commute in san jose, they have closed off that off-ramp from southbound 880 to the alameda for emergency roadwork a heads up until 11:15 a.m. when caltrans crew
